How does Coravin work?

Before we take a closer look at the different types of Coravin, let's see how the system works in general. The Coravin needle penetrates the cork without causing significant damage. When pouring wine, argon gas flows in the opposite direction, preventing oxygen from entering the bottle, coming into contact with the wine, and gradually spoiling its contents. Every glass is then perfect, even months or years after opening the bottle. After removing the needle, the cork closes automatically. The replaceable screw cap used for screw-top bottles works in the same way, where the piercing center is formed by a self-sealing silicone membrane.
